The institution includes the cost of e-book/textbook use in tuition and fees. Typically, the institution is able to provide these items to students at a more competitive cost than the student would be able to purchase them for independently. This is because publishers often offer bulk or package purchasing discounts to the institution, which may not be available to retail consumers. Students have the right to opt out of this program and purchase e-books/textbooks themselves. If a student chooses to do so, he/she is to notify the institution in writing at least 4 business days prior to the first day of any term in which he/she wishes to purchase his/her textbooks. The student will receive a disbursement equal to the institution’s cost of the respective e-books/textbooks no later than the 7th day of the respective term. The student must purchase his/her e-books/textbooks by the end of week 1 of the term.
If a student chooses to use the institution’s e-books/textbooks, rather than buy his/her own books, he/she may be required to return any physical textbooks (if issued) in good and usable condition at the end of each term, or on or before the date of termination if attendance is terminated. E-books do not need to be returned.
The institution issues the majority of textbooks to students in electronic format. Electronic textbooks seamlessly integrate with an online learning environment, and provide greater flexibility and adaptability for students. Students may request a physical copy of a textbook following the procedures listed above, but are advised that many publishers do not produce physical versions of current e-books. The institution will attempt to accommodate students who make a request to purchase physical textbooks, but neither the publisher nor the institution are required to issue textbooks in a physical format.
For convenience to students, supplies specific to a student’s program are also included in tuition and fees. Examples of such included supplies are nursing tool kits (containing stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc.), scrubs embroidered with the institution’s logo, certain test fees, and other program-specific required items. Contact the Program Director for more details regarding supplies included in tuition and fees.

Students have the right to opt out of this program and purchase some or all otherwise included supplies themselves. Students are strongly cautioned that if they choose to opt-out of the institution’s E-books/Textbooks and Supplies Policy, they are solely responsible for obtaining the e-books/textbooks and supplies that are necessary for course progression and clinical/lab/externship participation in a timely manner. Students who do not have the appropriate e-books/textbooks and supplies in their possession at the time they are required risk not successfully completing course requirements, may not be able to participate in clinical/lab/externship requirements, and may not be able to progress in their program.
The student will have other indirect costs (i.e. room and board, other supplies such as pens, notebooks, personal, miscellaneous, and transportation) that are not included in tuition and fees. The student should refer to the Cost of Attendance section of the Catalog for more information about indirect costs.
